Frequently Asked Questions (Page 4) Page 1 | Page 2 | Page 3 | Page 4 Q: Is the composter hard to assemble if I have to take it apart to get it home? A: Not at all - the composter comes apart by removing 4 screws, one at the top and one at the bottom of each vertical support. The metal crossbars are marked for top and bottom and have guidelines so that you can make sure the pre-drilled holes line up when assembling. Some customers have had difficulties lining things up when putting it together on grass, but the simple solution is to assemble it on a flat surface and then move it afterwards. The fully-assembled composter weighs around 40lbs, with no materials inside, so it's not difficult to move. Q: How long does it take to produce compost? A: This depends on many factors, including source materials, external heat, moistness of the materials, etc. However, if you provide the right mix of carbon/nitrogen sources, keep the contents damp but not dripping and flip the barrel at least once a day, you can produce compost in about 3 weeks. There are many links available on Google by searching "compost ratio" or "compost materials" that will help you in finding the proper combination of source materials. |
